About Rob

Hi, I’m Rob and I’m passionately interested in electronics, from cameras to computers and everything in between. I’m also interested in art, images and photography as well as bike racing and old Alfa Romeos (read rusty 1980s coupes). Like many people I have had a camera of some sort since I was a kid – and then I picked up my first computer in the early 1980s (just in case the idea took off!). I’d dabbled in crystal radios and simple circuitry and knew the home brew computer scene existed – but I didn’t commit until the CP/M era. Right at the time when IBM launched the PC and PC-DOS of course (and rendered CP/M to the trashcan of course).

Having already looked at early Apples and disliked their toy-like happy smiles I jumped ship and switched to what has become the dominant platform in computing. Doesn’t mean I’m not interested in Apple and Apple products – far from it – but when you’ve been a PC guy for almost 30 years it’s hard to let go.

But computers, like cameras, are just tools, like the brush you hold in your hand when painting. And computers are more than brushes, they are the easel, the canvas or paper and the brush; indeed a computer is a whole toolbox of exploration, capable of adjusting the size, scope, colour, light and shade of an image after the event. The whole paintbox and more. Of course I love using both cameras and computers but I can’t neglect audio either! The power within the gadgetry brings everything to a new level.

The electronics era has been a boon to us all, both at work and at play. And the best thing is that this powerhouse of creativity is in your hands. It’s what you do with it that makes a difference.

So get some gadgets in your hands and get creative! Now!

Cheers, Rob.
